Jordan’s Crown Prince Al Hussein meets with French President Macron
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II of Jordan held a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace on Wednesday, focusing on the strong relations between the two countries and developments in the region.
During the meeting, the Crown Prince conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah II to President Macron and expressed the King’s appreciation for France’s role in mobilizing international support for the recognition of the Palestinian state and efforts to end the war in Gaza.
The discussions included ways to enhance cooperation between Jordan and France, as well as a review of existing partnerships. His Royal Highness praised the nearly eight-decade-long Jordanian-French relationship, highlighting France’s support for the National Water Carrier project, which transfers water from Aqaba to Amman, and for private sector partnerships between the two nations.
On regional issues, the Crown Prince reiterated the need for intensified efforts to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire and a just, lasting peace based on the two-state solution that ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. He also affirmed Jordan’s support for Syria and Lebanon in maintaining stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Princess Rajwa Al Hussein and French First Lady Brigitte Macron attended part of the meeting. President Macron hosted a formal lunch in honor of the Crown Prince following the talks.
