Statement from Jordanian Armed Forces General Command

A senior military source from The Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army said that a patrol on duty at a checkpoint in the Al-Qarn area, within the Northern Military Region, encountered a vehicle that refused to comply with stop orders.

The vehicle attempted to breach the checkpoint, ignoring instructions from the armed forces, prompting the application of the military’s established rules of engagement after all available options were exhausted.

When the vehicle eventually stopped, two occupants were found inside. 

They were taken to Abu Ubaida Hospital in the Al-Shuna al-Shamaliya area for medical treatment but later died. 

An investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of the incident.

The armed forces urge citizens to comply with military instructions at checkpoints and stressed that any violations would be handled according to established rules of engagement.
