'Israeli' fire knocks out vital oxygen station at Gaza’s Quds Hospital

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported on Tuesday that the main oxygen station at Al-Quds Hospital in Gaza City has been knocked out of service following 'Israeli' fire, raising fears for patients who depend on life-support equipment.

In a statement, the organization said, “The oxygen station at Al-Quds Hospital in Gaza’s Tel Al-Hawa neighbourhood has ceased operating after being targeted by Israeli forces.”

With the central system down, the hospital has been forced to switch to pre-filled oxygen cylinders, which staff estimate will last no longer than three days. Medical workers have warned that once those supplies are depleted, patients in intensive care and others requiring constant oxygen will be in critical danger.

According to the PRCS, 'Israeli' armored vehicles are positioned at the hospital’s southern entrance, effectively sealing off the facility and preventing staff, patients, or aid from moving in or out.

The organization described the area around the hospital as “extremely dangerous,” warning that both medical teams and patients are under direct threat.

It also reminded that under international humanitarian law, hospitals must be protected and safeguarded as civilian spaces.

The PRCS urged urgent international intervention, calling on governments and humanitarian organizations to take immediate steps to guarantee the safety of those trapped inside Al-Quds Hospital.
