Leaked internal documents have allegedly exposed the language US diplomats were directed to use during a United Nations Security Council session on the Middle East earlier this week, which heavily focused on the war in Gaza.

Journalist Ken Klippenstein published the documents, which outline prepared talking points sent to US representatives at the UN. The notes emphasize Washington’s backing of 'Israel', a sharp denunciation of Hamas, and a categorical rejection of unilateral recognition of Palestine.

One directive in the script told diplomats to underline that “there is no Palestinian state,” while also portraying accusations of genocide as “politically motivated” efforts to aid Hamas. The instructions further placed responsibility for Gaza’s civilian casualties on Hamas, not 'Israel'.

The text shows diplomats were asked to criticize the UN’s decision to hold the session on Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year), calling it “a testament to how this Council has prioritized performative grandstanding over serious efforts to advance peace.”

Another passage said, “Yesterday's conference was an ill-conceived publicity stunt: it will prolong the war in Gaza, embolden Hamas, reward its obstruction, and undermine efforts to achieve peace in both the short and long term.”

The talking points also pressed the view that 'Israel' was acting within its rights to defend itself, “No country would willingly allow terrorists to threaten its people, and Israel is no different. Israel has the right to defend itself from groups that wish to do it harm.”

The notes dismissed Palestinian Authority leaders as absent and unreliable partners, accusing them of bypassing negotiations by seeking recognition at international courts and bodies.

On humanitarian matters, the script claimed the US has helped deliver millions of meals to Gaza while also citing “serious problems” with looting and diversion of aid. Still, it framed 'Israel’s' actions as consistent with limiting civilian harm.

The instructions also contained guidance on how to respond if allegations of genocide arose. “These accusations are politically motivated and categorically false. They are part of a deliberate, cynical propaganda campaign as Hamas attempts to win symbolic victories to compensate for total defeat in war. The United States refutes those allegations entirely.”

The leak comes weeks after European officials, including some UN members, have voiced growing alarm about the humanitarian toll in Gaza. Washington’s private notes, however, show a firm line: unwavering support for 'Israel', rejection of Palestinian statehood outside negotiations, and dismissal of international criticism as biased or politically driven.
