Jordan to experience unseasonably hot weather
Jordan is set to begin its first week of the astronomical autumn with unseasonably hot weather.
According to forecasters at ArabiaWeather, the kingdom will be affected by the first Red Sea thermal depression of the season, which will cause temperatures to rise significantly, exceeding their normal averages by up to 6 degrees Celsius (11 F) by the middle of next week.
The forecast suggests hot weather will dominate the kingdom, with temperatures possibly surpassing 40 C (104 F) in some areas, a phenomenon highly unusual for this time of year.
Gradual Rise Through the Weekend
The thermal depression's effect will begin gradually over the weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, a dry extension of the depression will cause temperatures to rise by about 2 C (4 F) above average. The weather will be relatively hot in most areas during the day, and hot in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, Aqaba, and desert regions. Moderate easterly winds are also expected.
Heat Wave to Peak Monday and Tuesday
The Red Sea depression's impact will reach its peak on Monday and Tuesday, as a hotter air mass moves in from the south. Temperatures are expected to climb further, reaching 4 to 6 C (7-11 F) above their normal averages. The weather will be "closer to summer" despite the start of autumn, with south-easterly winds that will be active at times.
This rise will push maximum temperatures into the mid-30s C (mid-90s F) in many Jordanian towns and villages, including Amman. In the Jordan Valley and Dead Sea, temperatures are expected to reach and possibly exceed 40 C (104 F), which are exceptional and highly unusual values for the first days of autumn.
