Crown Prince meets with US Congress member, State Department Under Secretary
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II met separately in Washington, DC, on Friday with Congressman Abraham ‘Abe’ Hamadeh, member of the House Armed Services Committee, and Jeremy Lewin, US State Department Under Secretary for Foreign Assistance, Humanitarian Affairs and Religious Freedom.
The meetings covered efforts to restore comprehensive calm and achieve peace in the region, as well as the importance of supporting Syria and Lebanon’s efforts to preserve their stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
His Royal Highness noted the importance of the economic partnership between Jordan and the United States, highlighting key projects such as the Aqaba-Amman Water Desalination and Conveyance Project.
The meetings also covered Jordan’s role, under the Hashemite Custodianship, in safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, as well as Christian pilgrimage sites in Jordan.
Discussions also touched on Jordan’s modernisation pathways, and development of its digital economy.
Jordan’s Ambassador to the United States Dina Kawar, and Director of the Office of the Crown Prince Zaid Baqain attended the meeting.
