Low-cost airlines are gradually resuming flights to Jordan from Europe, according to Captain Haitham Misto, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC).

Misto said that Wizz Air has begun operating two weekly flights to Jordan from Budapest. Ryanair is set to resume flights to 16 European destinations starting Oct. 28, with two destinations set to begin as early as Sept. 20.

New Routes and Traveler Numbers

Misto indicated that three other low-cost airlines are also considering launching new regular routes to and from Jordan. He explained that these companies are granted two regular permits annually: one for the winter season (Oct. 28 - March 27) and one for the summer season (March 28 - Oct. 27).

He also clarified that the low-cost flights are available to all travelers, not just tourists.

Last year, 344,781 travelers arrived in Jordan via low-cost airlines, a decrease from the 885,547 who traveled on six different low-cost airlines in 2023.
