Netanyahu insists on Gaza operation despite risk to captives

'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted on proceeding with a military operation in Gaza City, despite warnings from the country’s security leadership, according to 'Israeli' public broadcaster Kan.

Kan reported that security chiefs told Netanyahu in a meeting that the operation could be prolonged without achieving its objectives and could result in the deaths of some 'Israeli' captives held in the Gaza Strip.

They also allegedly warned that hundreds of thousands of Gaza residents would be unable to leave the city if the military operation were carried out.
