Netanyahu's son splits with fiancée after several wedding delays
Avner Netanyahu, the youngest son of the 'Israeli' prime minister, has reportedly called off his wedding three months after it was postponed for the second time due to the ‘Israel’-Iran war.
Hebrew media reported Thursday that Netanyahu, 30, ended his engagement to Amit Yardeni after two years together. Sources told Ynet that Avner “needs time to think” and has moved out of their shared apartment.
The couple, engaged in mid-2024, first planned to wed in November but postponed after security fears, including a Hezbollah drone strike on one of the prime minister’s residences. Their rescheduled June 16, 2025, wedding was also canceled after ‘Israel’ launched strikes on Iran, triggering a 12-day missile exchange and nationwide gathering bans.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was criticized during the war for saying his family had also borne “a personal cost” over the cancellation.
The pair had celebrated a henna ceremony in April, but their wedding plans had already sparked controversy as activists prepared protests near the venue amid heavy security measures.
Avner was previously engaged to Noy Bar, ending that relationship in 2022. Unlike his older brother Yair, known for outspoken posts and lawsuits, Avner has kept a low profile. Their sister Noa, from Netanyahu’s first marriage, lives privately as a mother of five.
