A shooting at a bus stop in east Jerusalem on Monday killed seven people and left several others wounded, 'Israeli' authorities reported.
Magen David Adom (MDA), 'Israel’s' emergency service, said the fatalities included a man “about 50 years old and three men aged around 30.” Seven other victims were reported in serious condition and were receiving medical treatment. Earlier reports had indicated five deaths.
Police confirmed that the two gunmen were killed at the scene. “A security officer and a civilian at the scene responded immediately, returned fire, and neutralised the attackers,” a police statement said. Paramedic Fadi Dekaidek described the scene as “severe,” noting that “the wounded were lying on the road and sidewalk near a bus stop, some of them unconscious.”
The late-morning attack occurred at the Ramot Junction on Yigal Street. Police said the assailants arrived in a vehicle and opened fire at the bus stop. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting to assess the situation, according to his office.
