Jordan bans gel nail polish containing toxic ingredients
The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) decided to withdraw from the market gel nail polish containing the prohibited substance TPO (Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide), according to a statement.
The ban is based on European Commission Regulation No. 877/2025, which prohibits the use of the substance starting Sept. 1, 2025, due to potential toxic effects on humans.
In the statement, the JFDA explained that it has also stopped the import and registration of new products containing the substance and has ceased accepting new registration requests for similar products.
Enforcement and Safety Measures
The JFDA confirmed that its field supervision teams have begun tracking products that contain the banned substance, coordinating with distributors to inventory the quantities, and preparing to withdraw them from the market.
