Jordan army foils two drug smuggling attempts with balloons

The Eastern Military Command of the Jordanian army thwarted at Monday dawn two separate attempts to smuggle large quantities of narcotics across its border.

The smuggling attempts used balloons guided by primitive devices.

Border guards, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, spotted the balloons in two different locations.

The balloons were shot down and their contents were seized inside Jordanian territory. The narcotics have been handed over to the relevant authorities, according to the statement by the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF).
