A court has extended the detention of Yitzhak Frankel, 19, a student from the Mattyahu settlement, who is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy in a pool locker room.

Authorities say Frankel threatened the victim with a weapon during the assault. While he claimed to have a gun, investigators confirmed he was holding a knife.

The court noted that new evidence worsened the suspicions against Frankel, leading to his detention being extended until September 1. Reports allege the attack included extreme acts of violence. The suspect initially confessed to police but later retracted the confession, claiming it was made under duress.

'Israeli' police have allowed the publication of Frankel’s name and photograph and urged anyone who may have been harmed by him to come forward.

Local media reported that attempts were made within the settlement to limit coverage of the case, prompting calls for transparency given the severity of the allegations. The investigation is ongoing.
