'Israeli' Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said on Sunday that the likelihood of reaching a ceasefire in Gaza and a captive release agreement is increasing, amid ongoing indirect negotiations with Hamas.

During a visit to troops in Gaza, Halevi said the army’s battlefield achievements in “Operation Gideon’s Chariots” are pushing Hamas closer to defeat and creating conditions for a potential deal on captives.

“For months, indirect negotiations between 'Israel' and Hamas have been underway in Doha, seeking a 60-day ceasefire and the release of hostages. Mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and the US are involved,” he noted, adding that recent 'Israeli' media reports have hinted at progress, though no breakthrough appears imminent.

Halevi also stated that the army is prepared for all scenarios. “We will adopt new operational models to boost our strengths, reduce vulnerabilities, and deepen our gains in the field,” he said.
