Syria announces “immediate” ceasefire in Sweida

The office of Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa announced an "immediate ceasefire" in Sweida on Saturday as interior ministry forces deployed in the Druze-majority province under a US-brokered deal with Israel.

“All parties, without exception, are called upon to fully adhere to this decision, immediately halt all combat operations in all areas, guarantee the protection of civilians, and ensure unhindered access for humanitarian aid,” the statement said.

The statement warned that any violation of the ceasefire would be “considered a clear breach of national sovereignty and would be met with necessary legal measures in accordance with the constitution and applicable laws.”
