Sweden to charge terrorist over killing of Jordanian pilot
Swedish prosecutors announced Thursday their intention to charge a convicted Swedish terrorist over his suspected involvement in the 2014 capture and killing of Jordanian pilot Muath al-Kasasbeh, who was burned alive in a cage by Daesh in Syria.
The gruesome execution, carried out by Daesh, drew global outrage after it was released in a propaganda video. Al-Kasasbeh was captured in December 2014 after his fighter jet crashed during a mission over Syria as part of a coalition against Daesh.
In an official statement, the Swedish Prosecution Authority said it plans to bring charges on May 27 against a 32-year-old Swedish national for committing "serious war crimes and acts of terrorism in Syria."
The suspect, Osama Krayem, has already been convicted for his role in the 2015 Paris attacks and the 2016 Brussels bombings.
