Petra, Jordan.
What will weather be like this weekend?
A relatively hot air mass swept across Jordan on Thursday, pushing temperatures close to the mid-30s Celsius, especially in the eastern neighborhoods of Amman, according to ArabiaWeather.
However, forecasts indicate that the heat will begin to subside starting Friday, accompanied by a significant drop in temperatures and a surge in wind activity.
Thursday Night: Cool and Breezy Late
Mild weather is expected Thursday evening, turning cooler overnight and into the early morning, particularly over highlands and eastern plains. Light jackets may be needed in those areas, with forecasters warning of large temperature swings between day and night—conditions that could increase the risk of colds and flu, especially among children.
Friday: Mild by Day, Chilly by Night
Temperatures are forecast to fall back to seasonal averages on Friday, bringing spring-like conditions to most parts of the country. Highs in Amman are expected to reach around 27°C.
The Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba will remain relatively hot, with highs approaching the mid-30s Celsius.
By nightfall, temperatures will dip again, particularly in elevated areas and the eastern plains.
Strong Winds and Dust Expected by Afternoon
A sharp increase in northwesterly winds is expected Friday afternoon, with gusts potentially exceeding 60 km/h.
These winds may stir up dust and sand, especially in southern and eastern regions and along desert highways, reducing visibility in some areas.
