Zakaria Sinwar in critical condition after shelling kills his sons in Gaza

Zakaria Sinwar, a professor of modern and contemporary history at the Islamic University in Gaza and brother of late Hamas political leader Yahya Sinwar, was critically injured early Sunday in a shelling attack that struck his tent in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

Three of his sons were killed in the attack.

Initial reports had mistakenly declared Zakaria dead. According to a Roya News correspondent, he was transferred to a morgue in the early hours but was later found alive and returned to intensive care, where he remains in critical condition.

The funerals of his sons were held shortly after the incident.
