Five journalists killed in 'Israeli' airstrikes in Gaza since midnight
Local sources have confirmed that five journalists have been killed in ‘Israeli’ airstrikes targeting civilian homes across the Gaza Strip since midnight.
Among the deceased are Abdulrahman Al-Abadla, Aziz Al-Hajjar, Ahmed Al-Zeinati, Khaled Abu Seif, and Nour Qandeel.
Photojournalist Aziz Al-Hajjar was killed along with his wife and children when an ‘Israeli’ airstrike struck their home in the Al-Saftawi neighborhood in northern Gaza. Family sources also confirmed that journalist Abdulrahman Tawfiq Al-Abadla was killed in the town of Al-Qarara, northeast of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, after being out of contact for two days.
Tragically, journalist Nour Qandeel, her husband Khaled Abu Seif, and their daughter were killed early Sunday, May 18, 2025, when Israeli forces bombed their home in the Bashara neighborhood of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza. Local reports indicate that Yara Mohammad Sabah also died in the same strike, raising the death toll in that incident to four.
These killings come amid an ongoing wave of intense ‘Israeli’ airstrikes across Gaza, which have resulted in numerous civilian casualties in recent days. Medical sources report that 106 people have been killed in ‘Israeli’ air raids on Gaza since dawn today.
Local and international organizations continue to call for an immediate end to the violence and demand protection for journalists and civilians. Many have condemned the targeting of journalists and civilians as clear violations of international law.
Nour Qandeel was a respected journalist known for her impactful coverage of events in Gaza. Human rights groups stress that such attacks against civilians and journalists are breaches of international legal standards.
As the humanitarian crisis deepens, calls for de-escalation and the safeguarding of innocent lives grow more urgent.
