Light aircraft crashes into Mediterranean sea in "Israel"
A light aircraft crashed into the Mediterranean Sea near Tayo Beach in Bat Yam in "Israel" on Friday afternoon, "Israeli" media reported.
The plane was carrying two people: a pilot in his 60s and a 15-year-old passenger. According to "Israel's" emergency services, Magen David Adom (MDA), the pilot managed to swim to safety and is reported to be in light condition. The teenager, however, was trapped inside the aircraft after it sank beneath the surface.
Rescue divers reached the submerged plane and pulled the boy out. Paramedics immediately began performing CPR and other life-saving procedures as he was evacuated in critical condition to Wolfson Medical Center.
Bat Yam Mayor Tzvika Brot, who arrived shortly after the incident, said lifeguards saw the plane flying along the coastline before it suddenly plunged into the sea.
“Lifeguards reported that the plane was flying along the shoreline and suddenly dove into the sea,” Brot said. He added that the lifeguards acted quickly, rescuing the pilot first, followed by divers who assisted in retrieving the trapped teen.
Emergency medics described the scene, “We quickly arrived at the shoreline using a 4×4 ambulance and heavy motorcycles. We saw the aircraft submerged. A man around 60 years old was brought to us, fully conscious. A few minutes later, a 15-year-old boy who had been trapped was brought out. He was unconscious, pulseless, and not breathing. We immediately began resuscitation, including CPR, ventilation, and administering medications, and evacuated him to the hospital in critical condition via an MDA intensive care ambulance.”
