'Israeli' Army Radio reported today that the 'Israeli' Air Force launched an airstrike near the European Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, targeting Mohammed Sinwar, the military wing leader of Hamas.

According to The Jerusalem Post, the strike was part of an attempt to assassinate Sinwar, who replaced his brother, Yahya Sinwar, as the new Hamas leader following Yahya's assassination in October.

The IOF confirmed earlier on Tuesday that they had targeted two hospitals, including the European Hospital and Nasser Hospital, which were being allegedly used by Hamas militants as command centers.

The airstrikes hit the European Hospital’s emergency department, maintenance area, and surrounding areas near the Ihsan al-Agha shelter center and Jenin refugee shelters. Three martyrs were recovered, with several others injured. The Nasser Medical Complex declared a state of emergency, as the European Hospital could not handle the large number of casualties.

Initial Palestinian sources report a high number of martyrs and wounded, though the final toll remains uncertain as evacuation and medical efforts continue
