The Jordanian Customs Department announced that it successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle 16 kilograms of marijuana through Queen Alia International Airport.

According to the department's spokesperson, customs officers, along with the Drug Enforcement Administration at the airport, and in coordination with other security agencies, foiled the smuggling attempt. The suspect, an East Asian national arriving from an Arab country, was initially flagged for suspicion.

A thorough inspection led to the discovery of the 16 kilograms of marijuana in the passenger’s possession. The individual was arrested, and the confiscated drugs were handed over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further legal action.

The Jordanian Customs Department emphasized its readiness to combat any attempt to smuggle illegal or harmful substances, ensuring the safety and security of the nation in collaboration with security agencies at all border points.
