On Saturday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry reaffirmed his country’s commitment to respecting Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, rejecting any 'Israeli' intervention in Syrian affairs under any pretext.

This statement came during a phone call with US President’s Special Advisor for Arab and Middle East Affairs, Masad Boulos. Shoukry also emphasized the need for the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement between 'Israel' and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

In regard to the situation in Syria, Shoukry reaffirmed Egypt’s support for the Syrian people and emphasized the importance of Syria remaining a source of stability in the region. He condemned the 'Israeli' airstrike near the presidential palace in Damascus, calling it a violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement.

Shoukry also made it clear that Egypt strongly rejects any 'Israeli' involvement in Syria, no matter the justification. He stressed the importance of initiating an inclusive political process that includes all segments of Syrian society to move beyond this critical phase.

On Lebanon, Shoukry reiterated Egypt’s continued support for Lebanon, its government, and national institutions in securing peace and stability.

He also expressed Egypt’s firm opposition to any violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling for the immediate, unconditional withdrawal of 'Israeli' forces from southern Lebanon and the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 by all parties.
