‘Israel’ says wounded Syrian Druze evacuated, confirms southern Syria presence
‘Israel’ announced on Saturday that five Syrian-Druze citizens were evacuated overnight for medical treatment at the Ziv Medical Center in Safed, in occupied Palestinian territory, after allegedly sustaining injuries inside Syrian territory.
In a statement, the 'Israeli' military claimed that the evacuation was carried out as the injured individuals required urgent care. The nature of their injuries and the circumstances under which they were hurt were not disclosed.
The 'Israeli' army also confirmed that it remains deployed in southern Syria and is “prepared to prevent the entry of hostile forces into the area of Druze villages.” It added that its forces are monitoring developments and remain on alert for “defense and various scenarios.”
The statement comes just days after the 'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the 'Israeli' military carried out a warning operation in the Sahnaya area of Syria, targeting a "radical" group allegedly preparing to attack the Druze community in the region.
