The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced that the Anti-Narcotics Department has intensified its operational efforts over the past few days to pursue drug traffickers, smugglers, and dealers.

As part of these efforts, 14 raids and extensive security operations were conducted across various regions of Jordan, resulting in the arrest of 44 individuals involved in drug trafficking, smuggling, and distribution—some of whom are classified as highly dangerous. Significant quantities of various narcotic substances were seized during these operations.

Major operations included:

  • Amman and Central Badia:
A large-scale security campaign was conducted targeting known locations of drug traffickers and dealers. The operation led to the arrest of 12 individuals, including two classified as extremely dangerous and wanted. Large quantities of narcotics and firearms were also seized.

  • Southern Amman:
A security campaign resulted in the arrest of seven drug traffickers and dealers, along with the seizure of narcotics and firearms.

  • Mafraq Governorate:
A targeted operation led to the arrest of five traffickers, dealers, and wanted individuals. One suspect was found in possession of 4kg of hashish.

Smuggling attempts thwarted:

  • Case 1 – Jaber Border Crossing:
In coordination with Jordanian Customs and other security agencies, authorities intercepted a freight vehicle following intelligence reports. The vehicle was found to contain 800,000 narcotic pills and three firearms. Further investigation led to the arrest of four individuals involved in the attempt to receive and smuggle the drugs to a neighboring country.

  • Case 2 – Amman:
Authorities received intelligence on four individuals storing large quantities of narcotic pills in preparation for smuggling. Surveillance led to the identification of the storage site. A raid resulted in the seizure of 30,000 pills concealed in a hidden compartment of a freight vehicle, and the arrest of all four suspects.

  • Case 3 – Aqaba desert region:
In a remote desert area of Aqaba Governorate, a site used to store pills for smuggling was raided. The suspect was arrested, and 170,000 narcotic pills were recovered.

Additional notable cases:

  • Central Badia:
A drug and weapons dealer was arrested, and a search of his home uncovered 44 blocks of hashish and nine firearms.

  • Southern Badia:
Two drug traffickers were arrested with 22 blocks of hashish and a firearm in their possession.

  • Amman:
A high-risk drug trafficker was arrested following a raid on his vehicle. A subsequent search of his vehicle and home resulted in the seizure of 70 blocks of hashish. In a separate case, another drug dealer was arrested after his home was raided, where six blocks of hashish, quantities of crystal meth, and various narcotic pills were found.

  • Aqaba:
Two operations were conducted. In the first, a dealer operating in a remote desert area was arrested with 27 blocks of hashish and a firearm. In the second, another dealer was arrested with 18 blocks of hashish in his possession.

  • Ramtha:
In response to reports of widespread distribution of synthetic cannabis (locally known as “Joker”), a special task force was assigned to investigate. After gathering intelligence, a suspected distributor was arrested with 3kg of the substance in his possession. In a separate case, two additional drug dealers were arrested with 14 blocks of hashish.

  • Zarqa:
A drug dealer was apprehended following a raid, during which he strongly resisted arrest. Authorities seized 12 blocks of hashish from the suspect.

The spokesperson emphasized that operations will continue to target and dismantle networks involved in drug-related crimes, reaffirming the department’s commitment to maintaining public safety and combating the spread of narcotics.
