'Israeli' police confirmed Wednesday that a swimmer killed by a shark near Haifa’s coast was a reserve soldier in the 'Israeli' army.

The swimmer was found after an extensive search. Tzach’s wife clarified that he wasn’t feeding or interacting with sharks but had been attempting to photograph them.

Channel 12 reported that Tzach served in the 'Israeli' army’s Northern Nahal Brigade since 1999.

The attack occurred on Monday, coinciding with reports of a shark sighting. Following a search, Tzach's remains were found on Tuesday evening. Authorities had earlier announced that a diver went missing in the same area, prompting the search.

In a video from the scene, a man is heard saying in Arabic, "I saw a lot of blood. The shark ate someone. I heard someone screaming, 'Save me, save me!'"
