Egypt foils weapons, drug smuggling plots
Egypt’s Armed Forces announced Sunday that the country’s border guard units successfully thwarted multiple attempts to smuggle weapons, ammunition, and narcotics in operations aimed at safeguarding national security.
According to a statement by the military spokesperson, the border guards intensified security efforts across all strategic directions of the country in recent weeks, following directives from the General Command of the Armed Forces to tighten security nationwide.
The spokesperson said the border guards managed to intercept various attempts to smuggle firearms, ammunition, and large quantities of illicit substances—including hashish, hydro, bango, opium, and narcotic pills. They also seized a significant amount of undeclared goods.
Additionally, the forces foiled several attempts at illegal migration, infiltration, and unlicensed gold mining by increasing inspections along roads and crossing points.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining tight security and control over all strategic directions, vowing to continue preventing criminal elements from achieving objectives that pose a threat to the country's safety and stability.
