Hundreds of bodies found in Sudan’s capital

Authorities in Sudan have recovered around 320 bodies in recent days from the capital, Khartoum, highlighting the brutal toll of the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

According to a source from Sudan’s Ministry of Health, most of the bodies were found in central and western Khartoum, where intense fighting recently took place. Many of the victims are believed to be civilians, some of whom were found in wells or buried in improper graves in areas controlled by the RSF.

The discovery comes as search teams expand their efforts in neighborhoods that have seen heavy clashes. Officials expect the death toll to rise as more areas are reached.

The conflict, which began in April 2023, has already killed tens of thousands and displaced about 15 million people, making it one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.

Despite hopes for peace, fighting continues in various parts of the country, including around Khartoum, Omdurman, and Darfur. Civilians remain trapped between warring sides, with limited access to food, medical care, and safety.
