Houthi forces down US MQ-9 drone over Al Hudaydah
On Thursday, a military spokesperson for the Houthi group (Ansar Allah) announced that their air defense forces had successfully downed a US MQ-9 reconnaissance drone while it was conducting what the group described as "hostile" missions over the skies of Al Hudaydah governorate in western Yemen.
The spokesperson emphasized that the group remains committed to supporting Gaza until the "aggression stops and the blockade is lifted." They also stated that military operations targeting "hostile entities" would continue in response to what they referred to as "American and Israeli attacks."
No immediate comment has been issued by the United States regarding the downing of the drone. The MQ-9 is one of the most prominent US unmanned aerial vehicles, typically used for surveillance and reconnaissance, as well as carrying out airstrikes when necessary.
