Trump: My phone call with Sisi on Gaza, Yemen went very well
US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi held a phone conversation on Tuesday, focusing on the ongoing crises in Gaza and Yemen.
Trump later described the call as a success, writing on Truth Social that it "went very well."
"We discussed numerous topics, among which was the tremendous military progress we have made against the ship-destroying Houthis in Yemen," he stated.
The discussion follows Trump’s earlier warning on March 15, when he threatened to "completely annihilate" the Houthis.
The Yemeni group has been targeting Red Sea shipping since November 2023, in response to Israel’s war on Gaza. After the Israeli Occupation blocked aid to the besieged territory, the Houthis resumed their strikes.
During the call, Trump and Sisi also addressed the situation in Gaza, including "possible solutions" and "military preparedness," according to Trump. Their conversation comes on the heels of a March 4 Arab summit, where regional leaders proposed a USD 53 billion plan to rebuild Gaza.
Both "Israel" and the US rejected the initiative, instead backing a controversial relocation proposal for Palestinians—an idea strongly opposed by Egypt, Jordan, international organizations, and human rights groups.
