Report: Elon Musk to leave US government soon
US President Donald Trump has reportedly informed his Cabinet and close associates that billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk will soon step away from his position in the administration, according to a report by Politico on Wednesday.
The outlet, citing three sources familiar with the matter, stated that Musk’s departure is expected in the near future.
Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has been leading government cost-cutting efforts as a special government employee under Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). His role involved reducing federal spending and overseeing the dismantling of various US agencies as part of the administration’s broader initiative to streamline government operations.
The reason behind Musk’s anticipated exit remains unclear. His involvement in federal policy-making has been a subject of controversy, with critics questioning the influence of a high-profile business leader on government restructuring.
