The latest weather maps from the ArabiaWeather indicate that Jordan will be affected by a Khamsin low-pressure system at the end of the week, bringing significantly warmer air masses than usual for this time of year.

On Thursday, temperatures will rise across all regions of the kingdom as the Khamsin system approaches, reaching 11-13°C above the seasonal average. The weather will be warm throughout the day and turn hot by midday and afternoon, especially in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba. High- and mid-level clouds will be present, while southwesterly winds will be moderate, occasionally stirring up dust in some areas.

Unseasonably Warm Nights Expected

During the night of Thursday into Friday, nighttime temperatures will be noticeably higher than usual. The weather will be mild to moderate across most regions, with a slight chill developing in the late hours and at dawn, particularly in mountainous areas.

Friday: Khamsin Conditions Take Hold

By Friday, the full impact of the Khamsin low-pressure system will be felt across Jordan. Temperatures will remain 9-11°C above average, with dry and dusty conditions prevailing in several areas. The Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba will experience particularly hot weather, with scattered mid- and high-level clouds.

Southwesterly winds will be moderate to strong, with occasional gusts causing varying levels of dust and haze across different regions. Strong winds are expected in parts of southern and eastern Jordan.

Temperatures to Peak at 30°C in Amman

On both Thursday and Friday, temperatures in Amman and most urban areas are expected to reach around 30°C, exceeding that in congested and low-lying areas. In the Jordan Valley, temperatures will climb to the upper 30s and may approach 40°C in some parts, creating unusually hot conditions for this time of year.

Cooler, More Humid Air to Arrive by Late Friday Night

By late Friday night into early Saturday, the Khamsin low-pressure system will move away, allowing a cooler and more humid air mass to take its place. This shift will lead to a significant drop in nighttime temperatures, bringing relatively cool and humid conditions, particularly in the late-night and early-morning hours. Low clouds will develop, and northwesterly winds will become moderate.
