Foreign students working illegally will be deported, says Labor Ministry

The Ministry of Labor announced that, starting April 1, 2025, any non-Jordanian student found working in the labor market in violation of labor laws will be deported.

Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Al-Zyoud stated that coordination has been made with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to notify all public and private universities, as well as community colleges, to inform non-Jordanian students that working in the labor market constitutes a clear violation of Jordanian labor law.

He further explained that the ministry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and the Public Security Directorate, has apprehended numerous university students of various nationalities, both male and female, since the beginning of the year. Al-Zyoud emphasized that anyone entering Jordan for the purpose of higher education must focus on their studies and is prohibited from working in the labor market.

He also highlighted that any employer who hires a non-Jordanian student, whether at a public or private university or community college, will face a fine of no less than 800 Jordanian dinars for each student found working.

The Ministry of Labor reiterated that the inspection campaign to address violations of labor laws related to foreign workers will continue.
