The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, approved a pension increase for military retirees and veterans, setting the minimum pension at JD 350, effective at the end of this month.

The move will benefit approximately 17,000 retirees, with an estimated total cost of around JD 5 million, covered by the Pension Directorate (Ministry of Finance) and Social Security Corporation (SSC).

This adjustment addresses a long-standing disparity in military pensions, where some retirees were receiving between JD 220 and 350. New military pensions already meet the 350-dinar minimum, and this move ensures fairness between past and current retirees.

The decision aligns with the government’s broader strategy to reassess wages across various sectors based on available financial resources.

Prime Minister Hassan emphasized that supporting military retirees and veterans remains a government priority in recognition of their dedicated service to the nation.

He also reiterated the government's commitment to working with the Military Retirees Foundation and other institutions to allocate agricultural land and support cooperative associations that benefit military retirees, contributing to new opportunities for them.
