Hamas blames 'Israel' for delay in second phase of ceasefire talks
Hamas has held Israeli Occupation fully responsible for any delay in the negotiations for the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, emphasizing that the talks have yet to begin despite the urgent need for them to start immediately.
Hamas leader, Taher al-Nono, stated on Thursday that committees in Cairo are overseeing the implementation of the agreement, adding that "Israel" is hindering the progress of the negotiations.
The "Israeli" government, on the other hand, has stated that it is not engaged in negotiations with Hamas regarding the continuation of the ceasefire deal's second phase.
Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire agreement, including the prisoner exchange as per the agreed-upon timeline. The movement stressed its full adherence to the signed deal.
In an urgent statement, Hamas announced that discussions were held with mediators to follow up on the agreement's implementation, particularly in light of violations by "Israel."
The movement clarified that its delegation had a meeting in Cairo with the head of Egypt’s intelligence agency and held phone talks with the Qatari Prime Minister as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the agreement's implementation.
Aid Deliveries and Humanitarian Concerns
Hamas revealed that its delegation held intensive meetings with officials in Egypt and Qatar, along with contacts with technical teams of mediators, to follow up on the ceasefire agreement's execution.
The focus of these discussions was on securing the sheltering of displaced people in Gaza, including the urgent entry of prefabricated homes, tents, and heavy equipment, as well as providing medical supplies and fuel to ensure the continued flow of humanitarian aid into the region.
Hamas stressed the serious tone of the discussions and the need for swift implementation of all agreement terms, especially given the worsening humanitarian conditions in Gaza.
