Aqaba Authority introduces new measures to enhance investment, tourism
The board of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) approved a modification to the land use designation for green hydrogen projects in the southern industrial zone, aligning with Aqaba’s plan for the ASEZA "Vision 2040". investments.
Additionally, ASEZA authorized maritime maintenance services in the northern craft zone to support the marine sector and provide specialized boat and equipment maintenance.
Investment facilitation, infrastructure development
The board approved the establishment of a gas station on the southern coastline as an investment opportunity to provide logistics services for visitors.
Investment incentives for companies were also approved, including allowing the temporary entry of machinery and vehicles to enhance the investment environment.
The board also agreed to modify construction regulations by increasing the floor area ratio for a hotel under construction, providing incentives to support investors in the tourism sector.
Financial guarantees for regulatory violations will be replaced with judicial guarantees, provided the violations are rectified within a year, to facilitate the commercial sector.
Supporting tourism, stimulating local economy
The board approved the establishment of Ramadan tents for commercial establishments to boost tourism during the holy month, with the condition that they will not be set up in residential areas.
Diving centers will be exempt from registration fees for 2025, and the submission of amended regulatory plans and licensing fees will be postponed to stimulate the diving sector.
ASEZA will contribute to the organization of global sports events such as the Jordan Rally and the Middle East Hill Climb Championship to enhance Aqaba’s reputation as an international sports destination.
The authority will also support the Aqaba Sports Festival to promote youth involvement and activate local sports tourism.
Environmental planning, public transportation
A zoning plan for the Aqaba Marine Reserve was approved to update its management and protect the marine environment.
The board also approved the operational plan for Aqaba Transport Company to expand public transport routes and improve service quality for citizens.
A new initiative will create safe pathways for families and children around the urban village, as part of efforts to improve public infrastructure.
These decisions reflect ASEZA’s vision to create a comprehensive investment environment and drive sustainable economic growth, solidifying Aqaba’s position as a global investment and tourism hub.
