Displaced Gazans in tents.
Jordan sends 62,000 tents to Gaza; brings total to 74,000
The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) said Thursday that Jordan has sent more than 62,000 tents to Gaza since the ceasefire was declared, bringing the total number to over 74,000, following the arrival of the 161st humanitarian convoy.
The organization noted that before the ceasefire agreement, Jordan had already dispatched over 12,000 tents. Initial relief assessments estimated the need for around 30,000 tents, but the reality on the ground showed that more than 500,000 displaced individuals were in urgent need of shelter. This prompted Jordan to ramp up its efforts, sending additional tents and aid.
JHCO Secretary-General Dr. Hussein Shibli emphasized that Jordan has been at the forefront of aid efforts since the crisis began. He highlighted that assistance has gone beyond tents to include essential food supplies, medical aid, and other relief materials, despite logistical challenges.
Shibli reaffirmed that Jordan remains committed to supporting Gaza, ensuring that aid continues to reach those in need. He stressed that under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the country will persist in its humanitarian mission, reinforcing its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people.
