Jordan scored 49 out of 100 on the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), according to results announced Tuesday by Rasheed for Integrity and Transparency.

Jordan ranked 59th out of 180 countries and territories assessed in the report and sixth among Arab nations.

The report highlighted that Jordan’s score improvement was driven by better ratings on public sector bribery levels, attributed to awareness campaigns, oversight efforts, accountability measures, and the automation of government services.

The CPI evaluates various aspects of public governance, including government effectiveness in curbing bribery, enforcing accountability mechanisms, tracking public funds, and preventing embezzlement and abuse of power for personal gain.

The index also examines anti-corruption policies, bureaucratic efficiency, and measures to combat favoritism and nepotism in government hiring and appointments.

Additionally, the CPI assesses law enforcement actions against corruption, legal protections for whistleblowers and journalists, public access to information, and the extent of citizen oversight and accountability mechanisms.

The index does not measure tax fraud, money laundering, illicit financial flows, or private-sector corruption.
