Hamas says no desire to return to war; warns Gaza truce could collapse

A senior Hamas official told AFP on Saturday that the Israeli Occupation’s “lack of commitment” to the Gaza ceasefire has put it in danger of collapse, adding that the group is “still ready” to join the ceasefire negotiations for the next phase.

The Israeli Occupation “procrastination and lack of commitment in implementing the first phase... certainly exposes this agreement to danger and thus it may stop or collapse,” said Basem Naim, a member of Hamas's political bureau.

He added that Hamas has no desire to return to war with “Israel”.

“Returning to war is certainly not our wish nor our decision,” he added in the interview with AFP.
