How much water poured into Jordan’s dams last 24 hours?
The Jordan Valley Authority at the Ministry of Water and Irrigation announced that the recent rainfall brought 10 million cubic meters of water into the country’s dams through rainfall and runoff, including 7 million cubic meters in the last 24 hours.
This has raised the total storage in the 15 main dams to 80 million cubic meters, accounting for 28 percent of their total capacity of 288.128 million cubic meters.
This compares to 127 million cubic meters stored during the same period last year, when storage levels reached 43 percent.
The ministry reported that the highest recorded rainfall as of this morning was in the Abin area of Ajloun Governorate, which received 15.7 mm of precipitation. This brings the total accumulated rainfall since the start of the season to 24.7 percent, compared to 61 percent during the same period last year.
The stored water was distributed among several key dams, with King Talal Dam receiving the largest share at 3.6 million cubic meters, bringing its total storage to 38.9 million cubic meters—58 percent of its total capacity.
Mujib Dam received 1.1 million cubic meters, raising its storage to 13.7 million cubic meters, or 55 percent of its capacity.
Meanwhile, Wala Dam received 900,000 cubic meters, bringing its storage to 9.5 percent of capacity. Other dams across the country also recorded inflows, except for the Tannour Dam in Tafileh, which did not register any new water intake.
