Freed Jordanian detainee recounts suffering in 'Israeli' jails
Freed Jordanian political prisoner Ammar Al-Huwaitat described the dire conditions Palestinian detainees have faced since the war in Gaza began on October 7.
In an interview with Roya, he said the situation inside 'Israeli' prisons felt like an unprecedented war.
He revealed that detainees were subjected to brutal torture, including broken bones, and that dozens had died in detention. Their basic rights were stripped away, along with privileges they had gained over the years.
Many detainees, he said, expressed a heartbreaking sentiment: “We just want the Gaza war to end, even if we remain imprisoned.” The daily reports of hundreds of Palestinian deaths deeply affected those behind bars.
Huwaitat described his release as an emotional moment, with massive crowds welcoming him despite 'Israeli' forces firing tear gas and live rounds to disperse them.
He concluded by emphasizing that solidarity with Palestine remains unwavering, calling it a cause for the entire region.
