Diddy to face over additional 10 civil lawsuits in coming days
Rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs is set to face more than 10 additional civil lawsuits in the coming days, according to attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents multiple individuals with allegations against Combs.
Buzbee's statement comes as he files yet another lawsuit in New York, this time on behalf of a male plaintiff who alleges he was assaulted by Combs in 2015.
The accuser, who remains unnamed, was 23 years old at the time and had been performing at an event attended by Combs, hoping to land a deal with Bad Boy Records. According to the lawsuit, he was invited to an afterparty, where he claims he was drugged and later assaulted.
Combs has repeatedly denied all allegations against him, including accusations of drugging, assault, and sexual violence. Additionally, he is facing federal charges related to a racketeering and sex trafficking case, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
Buzbee, a Texas-based attorney, has been instrumental in bringing forward numerous cases against Combs over the past year. One of these lawsuits also named Jay-Z as a defendant, though Jay-Z has denied the allegations and sought to have the case dismissed.
With a crucial legal deadline approaching on March 1 in New York—marking the final day for survivors of past sexual assault to file civil lawsuits despite expired statutes of limitations—Buzbee has stated he plans to file over 10 new cases within the next week.
The latest lawsuit traces back to a 2015 nightclub performance in Los Angeles, where the plaintiff was allegedly informed that Combs was interested in watching him perform and considering him for a potential contract.
Following what he believed to be a successful performance, the plaintiff says he was invited to an exclusive afterparty, where alcohol and drugs—including marijuana, cocaine, and ecstasy—were readily available.
According to the lawsuit, a drink was handed to him by one of Combs' associates, who claimed it was from the rapper himself. After consuming it, he felt disoriented and quickly lost consciousness.
While drifting in and out, the lawsuit states that the plaintiff witnessed what appeared to be group sexual activity involving Combs and others in attendance, some of whom seemed to be either drugged, unconscious, or possibly hired escorts. He alleges that upon regaining full consciousness, he realized he was being assaulted. Attempts to leave were reportedly met with intervention from Combs' security team, and the lawsuit claims the rapper threatened to ruin his career.
Currently, Combs is facing over 30 civil lawsuits tied to allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse. He remains in custody in New York as he awaits trial on federal charges related to sex trafficking and racketeering.
