"Europe is here to help": EU deploys civilian border mission at Rafah crossing
Kaja Kallas, the European Union's (EU) High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, announced the deployment of the EU's civilian border mission at the Rafah crossing on Friday.
In a post on X, Kallas stated, "Europe is here to help," sharing a photo of mission members at the crossing.

She noted that the mission will support Palestinian border staff and facilitate the movement of individuals from Gaza, particularly patients in need of medical care.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority (IBA), citing Palestinian sources, reported that the Rafah Border Crossing will open today, Friday, instead of Sunday as initially planned under the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
Hebrew news outlet Yedioth Ahronoth, quoting an EU official, said that “Israel” inquired about deploying a European mission to help manage the Rafah border crossing as part of efforts to reopen it during the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire.
