Thousands of Egyptians rally at Rafah border against forced displacement of Palestinians
Thousands of Egyptians gathered today, Friday, at the Rafah border crossing in North Sinai to protest against plans to forcibly displace Palestinians.
As reported by the Egyptian news outlet Youm7, The movement began in the early hours of the morning as large crowds from various provinces, including Qalyubia and Ismailia, made their way to Rafah, joining a collective stand against President Donald Trump's remarks regarding the forced relocation of Palestinians to Egypt.
According to Youm7, the rally is a clear rejection of any attempts to settle Palestinians in Egypt as part of an alleged plan to resolve the "Israeli" aggression.
Participants included political parties, civil society groups, and community activists, as well as members of Egypt's legislative bodies. The demonstrators reaffirmed their unwavering support for Palestinian self-determination and denounced any solutions that involve displacement.
They emphasized that the only viable solution is a two-state solution, per international resolutions, which guarantees the return of Palestinian lands based on the pre-1967 borders.
Youm7 reported that protesters carried banners and chanted slogans condemning the US president's suggestion of forcibly resettling Palestinians. Demonstrators expressed their belief that such plans are not only a violation of Palestinian rights but also a destructive move that would undermine the Palestinian struggle for a homeland. They made it clear that Egypt remains and will continue to be, the primary supporter of Palestine in the Arab world.
"We will not allow the forced displacement of our Palestinian brothers and sisters," said one of the speakers at the rally. "This is not a solution. The only solution is a just peace based on international law and the recognition of Palestinian rights."
The rally also received widespread support from lawmakers, who joined the crowds to express their opposition to these proposals. The public support reflects a national consensus rejecting any form of settlement that would undermine the Palestinian cause.
