Hezbollah issues statement as “Israeli” withdrawal deadline nears
Lebanon’s Hezbollah issued a statement Thursday as the 60-day ceasefire in Lebanon nears its end.
Hezbollah said the ceasefire agreement “mandates full and comprehensive implementation” of the complete and final withdrawal of the “Zionist enemy from Lebanese territories.”
After reports emerged that “Israel” plans to stay in Lebanon past the deadline, Hezbollah said this calls for “immediate and effective action, particularly from the Lebanese political leadership.”
“This includes pressuring the international parties overseeing the agreement to ensure full withdrawal, the deployment of the Lebanese army across every inch of Lebanese territory, and the swift return of displaced residents to their villages. No room should be left for any excuses or justifications to prolong the [Israeli] occupation,” the statement continued.
“Any violation of the 60-day deadline constitutes a blatant breach of the agreement, a further assault on Lebanese sovereignty, and the start of a new chapter of occupation.
“This would require the state to respond with all means and measures permitted by international law to reclaim its land and assert its sovereignty,” it added.
No room will be left for concessions or leniency, and breach of the agreement or attempt to evade its terms under baseless pretexts will be unacceptable – the group concluded in its statement.
According to reports in Hebrew media, “Israel” asked the United States for an additional 30 days until they pull out their troops from Lebanon.
As claimed by “Israel”, the Lebanese army has deployed too slowly across the region, delaying their withdrawal as a result.
