However, with a looming US Supreme Court decision last week to uphold a TikTok ban by January 19, a day before President-elect Donald Trump takes the oath of office, Chinese authorities are exploring contingency plans.

One proposed scenario, according to the report, involves Musk’s social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), taking over TikTok’s US operations and managing both platforms together.

The report also highlights that Chinese officials have yet to reach a consensus on the matter, It remains unclear how much ByteDance is aware of these discussions or whether TikTok, ByteDance, and Musk have engaged in any formal negotiations.
