Death toll in Los Angeles fires climbs to 24

13-01-2025 09:41|The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has identified the victims of the recent fires, confirming eight fatalities in the Pacific Palisades blaze and 16 in the Eaton fire, raising the death toll to 24.
Since Tuesday, the city has been engulfed by flames, with authorities warning the number could rise.
Deanne Criswell, a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) official, described the situation as “extremely dangerous,” cautioning that “hazardous winds may return” and urging residents to stay vigilant.
Regional Fire Chief Anthony Marrone added, "dry winds will keep fire risks in the Los Angeles area dangerously high.”
