Euro-Med Monitor calls for adding "Israel" to UN sexual violence blacklist
Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has called for “Israel” to be added to the United Nation’s sexual violence blacklist, citing consistent obstructions of UN investigations into allegations of sexual violence since October 7, 2023.
These obstructions, coupled with documented evidence of systematic and widespread sexual violence by “Israeli” forces against Palestinians highlight severe violations of international humanitarian and human rights law, the organization stated.

UN investigation denied
Last Wednesday, “Israel” denied authorization for a UN investigation into conflict-related sexual violence led by the UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict.
The refusal was reportedly driven by concerns that an investigation could expose evidence of systematic mass rape and abuse of Palestinians, including women and children.
The UN representative had insisted that access to “Israeli” detention centers was critical to assess allegations against “Israeli” soldiers.
“Israeli” outlet Haaretz reported that the UN representative had also sought to investigate alleged crimes by Hamas but was denied access to “Israeli facilities.” Women’s rights groups in “Israel” have expressed concern that this decision could lead to “Israel” being added to the UN blacklist instead of Hamas.
Harrowing testimonies and reports
Euro-Med Monitor highlighted shocking incidents, including the alleged rape of a Palestinian detainee by “Israeli” police dogs and the use of sexual violence as a tactic to demoralize the Palestinian population.
In one case, a Palestinian detainee reportedly died after being raped with an electric baton at the notorious Sde Teiman detention facility. These and other documented atrocities suggest a systemic use of sexual violence, the report stated.
A new report from the “Israeli” human rights organization B’Tselem, titled “Welcome to Hell”, further underscores these claims. Based on testimonies from 55 Palestinians released from “Israeli” detention facilities, the report reveals a pattern of arbitrary violence, sexual assault, degradation, starvation, sleep deprivation, and denial of medical care.
Many detainees were held without charges or clear reasons for their arrest, and conditions reportedly worsened after October 7, 2023.
Human rights outcry
B’Tselem Executive Director Yuli Novak condemned the “Israeli” government for exploiting the trauma of the October 7 attacks to implement policies that have turned detention facilities into what she described as “torture camps.” Novak criticized the government’s actions as reflective of a disregard for human lives, including “Israeli” captives in Gaza and Palestinians enduring relentless abuse in detention.
Euro-Med Monitor reiterated its call for international scrutiny and accountability, stressing the need for “Israel” to be included on the UN’s sexual violence blacklist to ensure justice for the victims and to uphold international law.
