One smuggler killed in confrontation with border guards

The Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army (JAF) reported that clashes resulted in the injury of a border guard officer, who was airlifted to the medical center.

This morning, border guard forces engaged with armed smuggler groups attempting to cross the northern border of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the Eastern Military Zone.

One smuggler was killed, and the others retreated into Syria.

The armed groups tried to cross the international border, exploiting unstable weather and fog in the area. The rules of engagement were applied, successfully countering the groups and seizing large quantities of narcotics, as well as two automatic weapons (Kalashnikovs) and a pistol. The seized materials were handed over to the relevant authorities.
