Dense fog this Sunday morning temporarily halted takeoff and landing operations at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) in Amman, Jordan, according to Zahia Al-Nassan, director of information and communication for the Airport International Group (AIG).

AIG informed Roya News that flights were diverted to Marka Civil Airport in Amman and King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba due to visibility dropping below 500m, prioritizing the safety of flight operations and passengers.

Travelers were urged to check with airlines for updates on flight statuses and the resumption of air traffic, with the halt in operations starting early in the morning and remaining in effect until the fog clears.

The Arab Weather website predicted increased surface humidity in Zizya, the airport area, and the desert road, leading to the formation of dense fog that severely reduces visibility.

Authorities continue to monitor weather conditions to take necessary actions as soon as the situation improves.
